Ms. Jennifer Sweeney

Ms. Sweeney stressed the importance of reading. She said to Read, Read, Read. It is important to read and gain more knowledge about different art subjects and also to ask questions. She was talking about SAGE= Student Achievement... I didn't catch the rest but it stressed student achievement which is similar to edTPA because it focuses on the students. She works with 18 students at a time which is a lot but it could be worse. It is a great idea to talk to parents, and talk to them right away and keep them informed, this can also help promote the art program if you get the parents involved. She does not have a lot of rules, only take care of the person and the problem and don't have class stars or broadcast or punish students in front of the whole class. Use document camera instead of having students gather around the table for a demonstration. She said this is one of the best things to have in the art classroom.  They use the PBIS= Discipline system. Punting Practice, preparing what to do when things go wrong. How do you react on the spot?  SHe has 1 class every 6 days. Collaborate with other teachers to combine or make lessons that relate to your projects. I really liked learning about her assessments and conferences.
