Assess Student Artwork

Interview Question:

How do you Assess Student Artwork?

I feel that it is important to observe the progress of the students work as well as matching work with lesson objectives. Focusing on the elements and principals of design as well as their academic language. I will have them turn in a art portfolio at the end of the semester so I can look for improvement in the work and craftsmanship of the work. Project shows evidence of learning. Observation is a very important way I can assess students work to make sure people are understanding and when they are ready to move on to the next step. Have a rubric or assessment form for students to abide by and inform them on what and how they will be graded on.
